From Effie

As a former Deputy Chair of our department, having hired our adjunct colleagues for our Winter sessions and Summer Academies, having observed many, and having drawn from their expertise for faculty development workshops, I need to add my voice in support of lectureships.

Adjuncts have been with us for a great number of years and have been teaching our intensive writing and other composition courses as well as innovative electives with exceptional care and devotion to our students. It would be hurtful to their professional reputation for anyone to even intimate that, despite their having to juggle teaching on other campuses as well, they have been doing a less competent job than full timers. Therefore, because our loyal adjuncts have contributed immensely to our department's good reputation, they do deserve the job stability and medical coverage for their families.

Respectfully submitted,
Dr. Effie Papatzikou Cochran
